For our 3rd anniversary B and I, stayed at the Indian Springs Resort & Spa in Calistoga. I had heard such great things from friends but really had no idea what to expect. I was told it was a relaxation haven that includes olympic sized mineral pool & mud baths.
This place was magical! The olympic size pool was very warm making it easy to get in the water early in the morning or even late in the evening (it is pretty breezy in Napa valley in the early am/late pm even in the summers). This is just not any heated pool- I mean it was named the best pool in 2016 by SF Magazine for a reason. There is something incredibly relaxing about the warm mineral water. I do not know what is it - maybe it's because the mineral water are from their magical on site geysers. It was incredibly to go from soaking in the warm mineral pool to the sauna room. It was such a relaxing experience!
We also tried the spa at the resort. Both B and I ended up with a mud bath. I personally wanted a body sugar scrub treatment but they were all booked up. This was the first time I have ever had a mud bath so again I had no idea what to expect. The waiting area is this peaceful Buddha pond and the calming sound of the fountains sets the tone for what you are about to experience. When you first walk in you change into a warm robe and flip flops they provide. You take a shower to wash off before heading into the mud. It was surprisingly warm and the attendant scoops the mud over you since you do not really sink in. Your left to soak for about 10-12 min. I was SO hot and sweaty. It took me a few min to really get comfortable in the mud. After, you shower the mud off and are send to soak in a mineral water warm bath. Your given spa water and again left 10-12 min to soak. You then spend another 10 min in the sauna room. You finish off in a room with cool cucumbers on your face and warm towels. This last part was my favorite - it was soothing music and the cool cucumbers that felt so nice after the warm baths. B loved the mud bath! I thought it was relaxing and def a must try but I do not think I would do it again.
We also found Sam's social club, on site restaurant, to be great. The food was fresh and tasty. For dinner, we had oysters, ceviche, and butter gem lettuce & shrimp salad. It was nice to dress up for dinner since most of the day was spent in bathing suits and robes post treatment and pool soaking. I wore an embroidered white maxi and pom pom clutch. I love the chiffon see-through bottom of the dress - it is so dreamy, My exact dress is sold out online but I have linked many similar options that are just as pretty including this cold shoulder dress and this front slit white maxi. Both these options have the sheer bottom that I love about my dress.
